Congratulations from all at Four Ashes Golf Centre to Danyaal Spalding, who has qualified to compete in this year’s HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour, after a tour three-day qualifying tournament at the Frilford Heath Golf Club, in Oxford.
Daniel shot rounds of 73, 71, and 72 to secure a place among the top 98 players, and earn himself the right to compete in 15 tournaments between this month’s opener at Close House in Newcastle, and the final event at Moor Allerton, Leeds, at the end of September.
It all started for Daanyal here at Four Ashes Golf Centre, and clinching his place on the EuroPro Tour is another big step for him. It means that Daanyal, who is 23, is now just one level beneath the PGA European Tour, and it will also boost his profile within the game, and among the followers of golf, because all EuroPro Tour events are covered by Sky Sports.
“We’re all absolutely chuffed for Danyal, and it’s nothing less than he deserves,” said Andy Devane, operations manager at Four Ashes Golf Centre. “He started playing golf here, and he was an outstanding player as a young child, it’s been a pleasure to follow his progress over the years.”
“Daanyal was a Warwickshire under 14 player at just 11, he won numerous junior titles, and since turning professional at 18 he has worked extremely hard.”
Everyone at Four Ashes Golf Centre will be cheering Andy on over the next six months, and we wish him an extremely successful season.
The HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour is Europe’s leading development tour, and the European Tour’s satellite in the UK and Ireland.
Offering direct access to the Challenge Tour through the final Order of Merit, the EuroPro Tour players will compete for over £800,000 of prize money in 2017, with the top five golfers at the end of the season awarded a category on the 2018 Challenge Tour – Daanyal’s big target for this year!
The EuroPro Tour season concludes with the Tour’s top 60 players competing in the Tour Championship.
A two-hour highlights package from each EuroPro Tour event is broadcast on Sky Sports, and on 98 networks around the world, reaching 400 million homes. In addition, every event is available to watch on demand in high definition on our YouTube channel.
Among those who have played on the EuroPro Tour are the South African pair Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuisen, who both went on to win Major championships (Oosthuizen The Open in 2010, Schwartzel The Masters in 2011), and Ryder Cup players Ross Fisher of England (2010) and the Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts, who featured in the 2012 event.
It all started for Daanyal at Four Ashes Golf Centre. We hope he is first of plenty more young golfers who make the grade after gaining their first experience of the game with a visit to us!
